Ysgol Uwchradd Gymraeg-Sbaeneg Newydd i Drevelin
Mae hi bellach yn 8 mlynedd ers i Ysgol y Cwm yn Nhrevelin agor ei drysau i 30 o blant yr ardal ac erbyn heddiw mae dros 150 o ddisgyblion yn mynychu. Fe raddiodd y garfan gyntaf o blant Blwyddyn 6 ym mis Rhagfyr 2022 ac mae nifer wedi dal ati gyda’u dosbarthiadau Cymraeg yng nghwmni Athrawes Nia. Eleni, bydd graddedigion 2023 yn cael cyfle i barhau gyda’u haddysg Gymraeg yn adran uwchradd newydd sbon Ysgol y Cwm. Bydd y dosbarthiadau cyntaf yn cael eu cynnal ar y 4ydd o Fawrth. Hon fydd yr ysgol uwchradd Gymraeg-Sbaeneg gyntaf yn ardal yn yr Andes.
Fel sy’n arferol mewn ysgolion eraill yn yr Ariannin, bydd yr ysgol uwchradd yn cael ei chynnal yn adeilad yr ysgol gynradd am y tro. Bydd y disgyblion uwchradd yn mynychu yn y prynhawn, ar ôl i ddosbarthiadau cynradd y bore ddod i ben. Mae Llywodraethwyr yr ysgol yn gobeithio y bydd adeilad ysgol uwchradd newydd sbon yn barod erbyn 2027.
Mae’r gwaith o baratoi’r tir eisoes wedi’i wneud, a bydd sylfeini’r ysgol uwchradd yn cael eu gosod yn fuan. Bydd yr ysgol yn cynnwys 6 ystafell ddosbarth, ystafell athrawon, ystafelloedd ymolchi yn ogystal a labordy a stiwdio radio fach.
Ar hyn o bryd mae’n edrych yn debyg y bydd tua 20 o ddisgyblion blwyddyn 7 yn cychwyn y flwyddyn.
Fel sydd eisoes yn digwydd yn Ysgol y Cwm, bydd y rhieni sy’n danfon eu plant yn talu ffi. Bydd y ffioedd hyn yn talu'r rhan fwyaf o'r costau rhedeg - gan gynnwys cyflogau, costau cynnal a chadw ac ati. Llywodraeth Talaith Chubut fydd yn talu cyflog y pennaeth, yn ogystal â chyflog yr ysgrifennydd.
Mae’r Llywodraethwyr wedi bod yn brysur iawn yn dewis y tîm addysgu, gydag ambell i wyneb cyfarwydd yn ymuno, ynghyd ag athrawon newydd. Rydym hefyd yn edrych ymlaen at groesawu gwirfoddolwyr ac athrawon newydd o Gymru.
Bydd y rhan fwyaf o’r gwaith adeiladu yn cael ei ariannu’n breifat, ac rydym yn y broses o godi arian ar hyn o bryd. Y llynedd, trefnwyd taith arbennig i 8 o ymwelwyr draw i’r Wladfa gyda’r elw yn mynd tuag at yr ysgol uwchradd.
Eleni, bydd criw bach o Drevelin yn teithio draw i'r Eisteddfod Genedlaethol ym Mhontypridd ym mis Awst, gyda’r bwriad o godi arian ar gyfer yr ymgyrch.
Bydd y criw yn cynnig cyfle i bobl 'brynu bricsen' am £5 yr un, gyda'r nod o werthu digon o frics i adeiladau ysgol uwchradd newydd sbon erbyn 2028!
Mae ymgyrch yr ysgol uwchradd hefyd wedi derbyn rhoddion gan aelodau Cymdeithas Cymru-Ariannin.
Gall unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb mewn cyfrannu mewn unrhyw ffordd gysylltu â'r ysgol drwy -

Mae ein ffrindiau yng Ngholeg Merthyr Tudful hefyd wrthi'n ymgyrchu i godi arian ar gyfer yr ysgol uwchradd newydd, a gellir cyfrannu fan hyn:

It is now 8 years since Ysgol y Cwm in Trevelin opened its sessions to 30 children in the area and today over 150 children attend. The first cohort of Year 6 children graduated in December 2022 and many have continued with their Welsh classes in the company of Athrawes Nia. This year, the 2023 are continuing with their Welsh language lessons in Ysgol y Cwm's brand new secondary department. The first class was held on Monday the 4th of March. The new Welsh-Spanishsecondary school is the first of its kind in the Andes of Welsh Patagonia.
As with many other schools in Argentina, the secondary school classes take in place in the current Ysgol y Cwm primary school. The secondary pupils attend in the afternoon, after the primary classes have finished. The school's Governors are ready to build a brand new school already by 2027.
The work on the new ground has already started, and the foundations of the school will be laid soon. The school will include 6 classrooms, a staff room,as well as a laboratory and a small radio studio.
As is the case at Ysgol y Cwm, the parents of the children that attend pay a fee. These arrangements cover most of the running costs - including salary, maintenance costs etc. The Chubut Provincial Government pay the principal's salary, as well as the secretary.
The secondary school has a brand new team of teachers, along side a few familiar faces. We are also looking forward to welcoming volunteers and teachers from Wales.
Most of the construction work will be funded privately, and we are currently in the process of fundraising.
This year, a small group from Trevelin traveled to the National Eisteddfod in Pontypridd in August, with the task of raising money for the campaign. There, people were given the chance to 'buy a brick' for £5 each. Hoipefully, enough bricks will be sold to build a brand new secondary school building by 2028!
The secondary school has also received generous donations from members of Cymdeithas Cymru-Ariannin, the Wales-Argentina Association.

Our friends at Coleg Merthyr Tydfil have also campaigned to raise money for the new secondary school, and donations can be made here:
